One of the largest Aquariums in Asia
Siam Ocean World is said to be one of the largest aquariums in South East Asia. In fact, some say it is the largest aquarium in South East Asia. No matter what your perceptions might be, this aquarium is massive, enormous, huge. So much so it covers an area of over ten thousand square metres. As far as square feet goes – well you do the maths. But not only that, the aquarium includes five million litres of water, which is distributed among its numerous fish tanks.
The aquarium is divided into seven zones which include names like Deep Reef, Living Ocean and Rocky Shore. The attractions here are suitable for the whole family and include things like a 270-degree glass tunnel walk-through for an awesome view of the abundant marine life.
After that, you can take a ride in a glass bottom boat to view hundreds of fish species from above. There are also Penguins and shark feeding sessions to get involved in. Life is endless here.
For the adventurous, now is your chance to go diving with the sharks. Once you are given an oxygen filled helmet, you can go ahead and jump right in the water where you’ll soon be rubbing shoulders with various sharks – dangerous or not. For the little ones (your kids that is!) there is a magical mermaid show to go and watch. So what are you waiting for! Take the kids and go out and have some real fun.
Getting to Siam Ocean World
Siam Ocean World is conveniently located at Siam Paragon Shopping Center down in the basement level. You can take a Tuk Tuk there. You can take a taxi there or you can simply take the BTS Skytrain to Siam Station. But whatever you do, make sure you get there and especially if you have kids. Don’t take my word on this, but I am sure they will love you even more, should you take them.
Just remember that after you exit the Skytrain, follow the signs to Siam Paragon. The physical address is B1-B2 Floor, Siam Paragon, 991 Rama 1 Road, Pathumwan, Bangkok 10330. The daily operating hours are from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm. The last entry for visitors is at 8 pm. But that would give you little time to capture much. Cost per person is 650 THB but could go up to 1,000 THB depending on your status – That’s if you are local or a tourist from another country
