My Top 6 List of the Best
Restaurants in the City

Basil Restaurant

Here’s my guide to the best Best Restaurants in Bangkok where not only will you be served with top-class Thai cuisine, but enjoy a dining experience fit for royalty!

The Blue Elephant Restaurant is superb, set in a beautiful old French-styled colonial building in the heart of Bangkok – opposite the Surasak BTS Sky Train Station. Not only do they serve excellent Royal Thai cuisine, they are also a well-equipped cooking school.

My best tip: Go straight to the a-la-carte menu.

The Blue Elephant Restaurant

Supatra River House Restaurant is a lovely restaurant with a fantastic setting in a traditional Thai house overlooking the Chao Phraya River and close to the Temple of Dawn.

Directions

It’s very easy to get there as you can make use of the restaurant’s free shuttle boat. First, take the Bangkok Express Boat to the Maha Raj Pier at Maha Raj Road and then transfer onto the old wooden shuttle boat. Google Maps Here.

Order excellent Thai cuisine on the riverbank terrace whilst watching the sunsets over the river!

On Fridays and Saturdays, you can enjoy the music and dance that accompanies your meal.

Supatra River House Restaurant

Cabbages and Condoms is located at 10 Sukhumvit Soi 12, Sukhumvit, Bangkok. Even for the pure novelty that the name suggests, this eatery could be one of your first choices as the cuisine here is top-class. The host will personalize your meal to suit your individual taste.

The name comes from the huge amount of cabbages grown and eaten by the Thai people, mostly in the northeastern province. Although cabbages are part of the local staple diet, you need not order this local delicacy at this restaurant.

If condoms were part of the impoverished Thai’s daily use, then the associated health-related problems could also be improved considerably. Nevertheless, some of the profits from the restaurant go towards helping HIV awareness programs and other related charitable projects.

When leaving this Bangkok restaurant, there is a sign that says:

Sorry, we have no mints. Please take a condom instead.

Since you are fully informed, please enjoy your meal and remember, the owner of the restaurant says that the food here is guaranteed not to make you pregnant.

Sit in a classically styled air-conditioned Salas or the open-aired terrace ~ you’ll be surrounded by the tranquillity of its wonderful lotus pond!

Try the a-la-carte menu which offers a fine selection of Thai food from around the country. One of the best restaurants in Bangkok.

The Thanying is a fine restaurant serving only the best Royal Thai Cuisine. This converted Thai pavilion is set well off the main roads and is the perfect setting for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The restaurant is a three-minute walk from the Surasak BTS Sky Train Station. (Same station as at the Blue Elephant restaurant). It’s at number 10 Thanon Pramuan, on Pramuan Street, just off Silom Road between Silom 17 and 19 at Bangrak in Bangkok.
