A Fun Theme Park with Roller Coaster Rides
and Water Slides

Siam Park City in Bangkok has got to be the most righteous place to be if you’re looking for the ultimate in adrenaline arousing experiences. Set on 120 acres of land, this theme park is said to be the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia. It’s so big that not only can you get lost here, but much worse than that, one day is just not nearly enough time for you to take on all the different rides and slides.

Because of the colossal size of the park, it is divided into three main zones,  namely an amusement park, a theme park and a water park. Having said that, it is also divided into various sub-zones too. The amusement park alone has an X-Zone, a Fantasy World, a Family World and a Small World. I’ll explain this later.

Are you beginning to picture the enormity of this place? I’ll try and get to as much as possible here but it’s impossible to experience all the thrills and spills in just one day. If need be you will have to come back again and again and again. During the week the place is substantially quieter than it is on the weekends.

Theme Park Rides

The Vortex

To get an idea of the size of this place, there are over thirty different types of roller coaster rides you can take. The Vortex roller coaster is the first of its kind in Southeast Asia and also the largest of only two suspended looping coasters in the world. The track is 765 metres long with five loops and several sheer drops.

The Boomerang

The Boomerang roller coaster above may be somewhat smaller in size than its larger cousin, but in this particular case size is not the issue as it does come with a bit of a twist due to its three loops and its sudden sharp reverse actions.

Other rides

Perhaps you might like to test your nerves on the Tagada Disco, a giant spinning plate ride, where the sheer G-force will have you glued to your seats. Be prepared to get wet on the Topspin, a ride that will launch you up into the sky and then spin you in and out of a few fountains, or the pirate ship ride called the Twin Dragon which has a dragon theme to it. For a less hazardous thrill ride, you may opt for the Double-Deck Merry-Go-Round. This one speaks for itself.

The Condor

The Condor seen below is not so much a roller coaster, but more like a rocket launcher that will propel you some 24 metres into the sky and then spin you up and down and round and round. Though a little scary, it’s a heck of a lot of fun.

The Giant Drop

With so much going on at Siam Park City you will find it difficult not to take advantage of all that there is on offer. Some of the other rides you can choose to tackle include the Giant Drop which is basically a 75-metre freefall ride. You have to have the stomach for this one.

The Mega Dance

Then there is the Mega Dance which will swing you around with its spider-like arms. If you want to try a 360-degree thrill ride without any safety belts, then the Enterprise could just be your ultimate trip.

The Africa Adventure

One of the newest attractions at Siam Park City is called The Africa Adventure where you can choose to go on either a boat or train trip round the island to see a robotic animation of King Kong as well as others such as elephants and tigers.

Jurassic Adventure

A jeep ride at Jurassic Adventure will take you on a mighty escapade through a theme park to view prehistoric robotic dinosaurs and exploding volcanoes. Aladdin, on the other hand, is a magical flying carpet ride with a centrifugal spin.

The Water Park

The Water Park at Siam Park City is a must if you should be spending the whole day here with the family. Kids will love going on the water slides, swimming and diving in the pool or just lazing around in the sun. Should you decide to spend the entire day at the water park you only need to purchase an admission ticket for this purpose, the cost being 200 Baht for adults and 100 Baht for children.

And if you are not actually prepared for swimming in that you haven’t brought along the proper attire, you have the option of renting some swimming gear or you can buy whatever it is that you might need at the shop on the premises.

The water park is divided into several different areas, many of which are perfectly suited for young children who are not that experienced in swimming and other areas where the most talented swimmer can explore.

Adults can join in the fun or simply relax on the loungers provided. It is advisable though to keep a watchful eye on your kids as there are some areas where they could, if not careful, slip and injure themselves, such as the areas around the rock pools.

There are several activities to explore at the water park at Siam Park City for both young kids as well as older children. One of which I’m sure the young at heart will enjoy is in the shallow area where it’s safe enough to stand up and splash around under the waterfalls and fountains.

For those of you who prefer to swim, play and have fun in the deeper water, there is an enormous pool that snakes its way around the park and for the more experienced swimmer, there is a large area created around an artificial sea with some real waves.

One of the highlights here has to be the massive water slide where you can sit back (or in this case, lie down) and then just let go of everything, though you may want to hold on to your pants. Only the courageous need apply, but those of you who have no fear, this is one ride that will have your adrenaline pumping.

If this activity doesn’t float your boat you can try your skills on the triple storey spiral slide which sports several elevated platforms some  of which are sloping and twisting while others are almost vertical to the point sheer craziness. The whole structure resembles that of a giant scaffold of chaotic colour.
