There are several top international golf clubs in Pattaya set out to championship standards and designed by some of the biggest names in golf course architecture. The Leam Chabang Golf Course was designed by renowned golfer Jack Nicklaus, the Sriracha International Golf Club was designed by world famous South African golfer Gary Player and the Great Lake Golf club was designed by Nick Faldo. These and other equally big names all contributed to the wealth of top-class clubs and courses within a 40-kilometre radius of the resort.

Pattaya International Golf Clubs

Siam Country Club Old Course is the grand old lady of golf courses set in the countryside behind Pattaya between north and central Pattaya Road. The club, designed by I. Izumi was opened in 1971 making it one of the kingdom’s reigning premier courses. In 2006 it was given a complete makeover by renowned course architect Lee Schmidt. It re-opened in March 2007 and went on to host the Honda LPGA Thailand Tournament in October that year. 

The club sports a traditional mature 18-hole Par 72 tree-lined course measuring 6,534 yards and though perfectly suited should you like slow greens, its many slopes challenge power hitters making it a good test of your golfing skills. And the Bermuda grass greens require some very precise putting. Besides offering you breathtaking views, the elevated tee at the 1st hole challenges you to hit a big drive. Nonetheless, many a golfer has praised its layout and beauty.

Apart from the stunning views across the course, the facilities at the remodelled clubhouse include a swimming pool, a sauna and a snooker room. Adjacent is a museum containing artefacts depicting Thailand’s early history.

Siam Country Club Plantation Course, located 25 minutes by road from Pattaya, is a fantastic 27-hole golf course designed by the Arizona-based Schmidt and Curley Design Corporation. It opened in 2008 and in 2009 hosted the Honda LPGA Thailand Tournament. The course with its challenging layout, breathtaking views and natural rolling hills, was formally a tapioca and pineapple plantation before being transformed into one of the great golf courses in Thailand.

Laem Chabang Golf Course

Laem Chabang International Country Club is not only one of Thailand’s most beautiful courses, but it’s also rated as the number one 27-hole par 108 course in Pattaya. It was designed by Jack Nicklaus on a seven hundred acre site and opened in 1993. The course is set in a rolling valley between tall hills covered in rocky outcrops. It also features coconut palms clustered along the fairways and flower gardens that add brilliant colour to the slightly elevated greens. 

The course comprises of 27 holes which are divided into three nine-hole sections and span a total length of 9326 yards. Jack Nicklaus named the course Mountain, Lake and Valley. It is one of the few courses that is both challenging and relaxing thus making it the perfect combination for a wonderful golfing holiday.

The three-story clubhouse offers facilities such as a swimming pool, a sauna, a spa, library and snooker room. Also available is a 300-yard driving range as well as mountain biking and horse riding facilities giving spouses and children a treat.

Burapha Golf Course

Burapha Golf Club consists of two 18-hole championship golf courses, each with a Par 72. They were designed by renowned architect Gary Panks and world famous touring professional David Graham, winner of the US Open and PGA. Their aim was to build a golf complex to rival the best in the world and with their remarkable dedication to detail, this was achieved. The 36-hole golf course is recognised for its superior standards throughout the golfing fraternity in both Thailand and South East Asia as well as the rest of the world.

Though each course has its own distinct characteristics, both feature manicured multi-tiered greens, undulating fairways and white sand bunkers. The East Course has wide fairways, perfect for the inexperienced golfer. The West Course is more challenging and therefore suited for the seasoned golfer. No visit to Pattaya would be complete without you having played on the Burapha international golf course which opened its doors in 1995.

With this in mind, it’s essential you stay focused at all times so as to avoid the menacing bunkers and other hazards. It is a beautiful old mature course with fast greens making it a real test of your putting skills. Also, watch out for the monkeys who are often seen visiting holes 6 and 7. The newly built clubhouse is fully equipped and offers you all the usual amenities for relaxation after your round of golf.

Crystal Bay Golf Club situated a short distance north of Sriracha incorporates a 27-hole Par 72 course designed by Thai Takenaka. It has to be one of the most immaculately manicured park-like courses in Thailand because of its richly decorated flowering shrubs. This course is suitable for golfers of all handicaps.
