The kind of activities you’re going to experience include basic cuttings, measuring ingredients, making fresh coconut milk, making curry pastes as well as trying your hand at carving mango fruit. Bangkok Cooking Schools
Should you be staying at the Oriental Hotel, then you could simply take your cooking class right here. Well, maybe not exactly at the hotel itself, but in the wooden building right across the Chao Phraya River on Charoen Krung Road.
The school provides excellent hands-on tuition so that you can take all this fab knowledge and then prepare your very own Thai Recipes at home. The school is open Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am until 12 noon and costs $120 per lesson.
The Blue Elephant is a restaurant and a well-equipped cooking school in one, teaching you four dishes daily. You will get the chance to sample your own, as well as other Thai dishes created by the local chefs, right here in the restaurant.
The school is located in the heart of Bangkok, opposite Surasak Station (BST) and is open Mondays to Saturdays from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Prices range from 2,800 Baht for one day to 10,000 Baht for 5 days. Thai vegetarian cookery is also taught and private lessons can be taken in the evenings and on Sundays.
The Thai House is located 22 kilometres or 15 miles north from Bangkok City at Amphoe Bang Yai in Nonthaburi and can be reached either by road or river. Pick-ups can easily be arranged from your hotel in the mornings and you will be returned to your hotel in the evenings.
The Thai cooking classes are held in an outdoor classroom surrounded by an orchard of mango, banana, papaya and coconut trees. The fresh herbs and spices used in the preparations of the recipes are grown on the premises. There are various courses to choose from.
