The warm Phuket Weather is a welcome relief for much of the year if you are coming from any of the colder countries around the globe. Phuket is by far the best beach and island destination of choice for many tourists in Thailand. It’s not surprising why lots of weddings take place here as the surrounding environment lends itself to a picture perfect piece of paradise.
As with the rest of the country, it too can get very hot some months of the year. The best time is before Christmas and after the new year but it can also get very crowded during this period. The hottest months are between April and July. Rain and thunderstorms are sporadic throughout August and October but I am sure that if you do not mind getting a little wet now and again, this time of the year can be very pleasant indeed.
Phuket is fortunate to have beautiful all year round good weather. Don’t get me wrong, though it can become uncomfortable should you be doing an excessive amount of walking or hiking in open spaces for any length of time, but it sure beats the cold weather hands down.
Tips to Bear the Heat
Tip One. There is little need to wear lots of clothing most of the time. For men, you can choose shorts, sandals and T-shirts as well as a sun hat and a good pair of sunglasses during the day. Beach-ware I shall leave up to you. Cool cotton trousers can be worn during the evenings.
For the ladies, well a little difficult for me, so these are just some useful suggestions. Sarongs, cotton tank tops and sandals, a sun hat and a good pair of sunglasses. Evenings can be complimented with cotton skirts. Long or short can go either way. Only you must remember that should you visit any of the temples, you may be required to cover up accordingly.
Tip Two. Go to a local 7-Eleven or similar store and buy a bottle of ice cold water. You need to drink lots of water to keep dehydration in check. And while you’re there, purchase one or two of those pocket-sized scented towelling cloths. You will find them in the fridge. It’s best to get a nice cold one. They come in handy when things get hot and you need to wipe the sweat from your forehead or the back of your neck.
Tip Three. When there’s a need to cool off a little, head back to your hotel or resort to re-energize. You will soon enjoy taking more cold showers here than you would back home. Another great idea would be to spoil yourself at a health spa for total relaxation. The alternative is to do a bit of leisure shopping in one of the many air-conditioned shops.
